What a time for Bon Jovi. It was recently announced that the band will be receiving the first-ever iHeartRadio Icon Award during the upcoming iHeartRadio Music Awards (where the band will also be performing), they are also being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, are about to head out on tour, AND they are rereleasing their latest album This House Is Not For Sale, which features two new songs -- one of them being "When We Were Us."
During their recent iHeartRadio ICONS with Bon Jovi show in New York City, the band performed the new song live for fans who were watching and listening from all around the country, and for the intimate group of fans that were in the room.
Jon Bon Jovi explains that "When We Were Us" is a retrospective song for the band, who is celebrating their incredible 35 year career this year. He tells iHeartRadio:
"I think it's just where we're at right now, after This House Is Not For Sale, which was a very personal record, and kind of a third or fourth rebirth of this band, and what we went through and where we are. This is sort of like the victory lap. We're gonna just do a couple of months worth of shows around the [Rock] Hall and the induction. And 'When We Were Us' just pretty much takes the time to look back, and see, look, when we set out to do this, it actually happened. And I think it's just a thank you to all those fans who supported us for generations."
Bon Jovi will perform during this year's iHeartRadio Music Award and accept the iHeartRadio Icon Award on Sunday, March 11th. Fans can tune in live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on TBS, TNT and truTV, on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide; and on the iHeartRadio app, the free all-in-one digital music, podcasting and live streaming radio service. TV subscribers can also watch the iHeartRadio Music Awards on the TBS, TNT and truTV Apps. You won't want to miss it!
