That Big Powerball Winner Is A 24-Year-Old Guy!

The winner of last month's $768-million-dollar Powerball jackpot has come forward in Madison, Wisconsin – and it’s 24-year-old Manuel Franco, who bought the winning ticket at a Speedway gas station. How’d he react when he realized his windfall?

“My heart was pumping and my blood felt warm,” he says. “I screamed for about five or ten minutes.” Apparently, he and his girlfriend - who was notably not at yesterday’s press conference - each purchased five tickets. The winner was in his stack. As for what he plans to do with the money, Franco says he wants to do a lot of good…but that he also wants to do so safely.

“I’m just gonna take off somewhere and take my time with it,' Franco adds. “[I'll] talk to my family about it and make sure I’m spending the money the right way.” For the record, this is the second-largest jackpot ever in the U.S. Franco says he will be taking the lump sum payout of 477-million, which after taxes leaves him with a paltry cash-sum of more than $326-million.
