Couple Who Bought Home That Inspired 'The Conjuring' Report Freaky Things

There is a house in Rhode Island that is so haunted it inspired one of the scariest horror movies in recent years, The Conjuring, and a Maine couple who recently bought that house says that they started to experience paranormal things on their first day there. Cory and Jennifer Heinzen are the proud new owners of the home, which reportedly has evil spirits that in the '70s drove out the Perron family. Apparently, whatever entity was in the house physically attacked the Perrons, levitated them, spoke through them, threw chairs near them and caused them to suffer from mystery illnesses. It got so bad that the family called in world-famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Warren told USA Today that "the things that went on there were just so incredibly frightening. It still affects me to this day."

In fact, being a fan of the Warrens is part of the reason the Heinzens bought the house, which was built in 1736. Cory, a paranormal investigator himself, explained to the Sun Journal, "I've always been fascinated with the Warrens. It's just like a piece of paranormal history, this house." And he is now part of it too. Cory explained, "We had doors opening, footsteps and knocks. I've had a hard time staying there by myself. I don't have the feeling of anything evil, (but) it's very busy. You can tell there's a lot of things going on in the house."

The Heinzens hope to fix up the house so they can preserve it and tell its history - even open it to visitors and investigators.

That's the opposite of what Norma Sutcliff wanted. She's who sold the home to Cory and Jennifer and in 2015, she sued Warner Bros. because the publicity of the film brought trespassers and curiosity-seekers to her doorsteps.

With their purchase of the home, Cory and Jennifer also got eight-and-a-half acres, a river and a pond. Cory stated, "It's so serene down there, never mind the story behind the house, it's a beautiful home. (Jennifer) honestly was more excited than I was, I think."
