Orlando Woman's Washing Machine Blows Up During Spin Cycle

A Florida woman is claiming that her Maytag washing machine actually blew up while it was in the spin cycle in her garage recently. She's also claiming that Maytag refused to replace the high-end front-loading machine.

It looks like the woman is not alone after more than a dozen similar complaints have surfaced about the machine and the company. She says that she had just returned from a walk when it sounded like a bomb had gone off in her garage. When she went to look, she found a 20-pound concrete block inside the tub that had been a counterbalance.

She says Maytag offered $390 to replace her machine but that it cost her well over $1500 a few years ago. When asked, the company said it regrets her difficult experience and it will analyze her old washer to determine what happened.
