Micro Preemie Home For Christmas After 268 Days In NICU

It’s been a long road for the Day family, but their baby girl is finally home from the hospital, just in time for the holidays. Joy Day was born prematurely at 25 weeks and weighed only two pounds, one ounce. She spent nearly nine months at MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Columbia, Missouri before being released.

Joy’s lungs weren’t properly developed when she was born and she had many health scares, sometimes doctors weren’t even sure she’d survive. Now she’s 10-months-old and while she’s still on a ventilator, she’s doing well.

“She’s feisty and strong - she’s a fighter,” says Joy’s mom, Amber Day. “To see her sleeping and smiling at her brothers and sister - we’re very thankful.”
