What started as a search for a missing North Carolina woman ended in tragedy when they found the body of her six-month-old son in a cemetery. On Friday (February 21), authorities received a missing person report for 30-year-old Tamara Jernel Brown and were concerned she that was suffering from a mental health disability.

Brown was located in the town of Matthews, where she was taken into custody in connection with a separate incident. Authorities did not provide details about what happened but said Brown is facing one charge of common law robbery and two counts of assault on a government official. When officials realized that her son was not with her, they issued an Amber Alert.

A few hours later, officers discovered the remains of the young boy in a nearby cemetery. The homicide unit of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police was called to the scene and is helping with the investigation. Authorities have not said how the child died, or if Brown is facing additional charges.
