Man shoots dog for attacking his dog at South Fl

Naples, FL - A man was arrested after he shot a dog at a South Florida dog park because it was fighting with his dog.

According to the Naples Police Department, 53-year-old Tyson McCord was arrested after he shot a Pit bull mix that was attacking his dog at the Naples Dog Park on Saturday.

McCord told officers he warned the owner of the Pit bull he would shoot the dog if it didn't stop attacking his white German shepherd, but the dogs continued growling at each other.

As the owner of the Pit bull pulled the dog away, McCord allegedly used a Smith and Wesson .357 revolver to shoot the dog.

Investigators say there were no visible injuries discovered to McCord’s German shepherd, but the Pit bull suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was transported to a local pet hospital.

The Pit bull is expected to survive its injuries.

McCord was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and discharging a firearm in public.

He was also banned from Baker Park and the Naples Dog Park for one year.
