Senator Rick Scott Speaks Out Against Bipartisan Gun Bill

In what could be the first new federal gun legislation in decades, the Senate expected to advance a bipartisan gun control bill today. It's all in an effort to stop mass shootings. Republican Senator Rick Scott says of course he would like to see that happen-but he can't support this bill because it weakens due process and is soft on crime. He says it was rushed through without enough review. The 80-page Bipartisan Safer Communities Act encourages states to keep guns out of the hands of those deemed to be dangerous and tightens background checks for would-be gun purchasers convicted of domestic violence or significant crimes as juveniles.
