Spanish Translated Ballots Botched In Broward

Atención Broward voters, there's a problem with the Spanish translation of school tax question on the ballot. Elections Supervisor Joe Scott says the School Board is to blame for the faulty language translating "one mill" into "one million" and "essential expenditures" into "essential instruction" on the question asking voters to double a special school tax. He says they're now stuffing all vote-by-mail envelopes with a notice of the mistake and they will put alerts in voting booths August 23rd since they can't change the ballot before Election Day. Broward is asking voters to approve the tax hike to pay for teacher salaries, school security and mental health counselors.
