Drunk Florida man tased after tackling female deputy to the ground

Fort Myers, FL - A drunk Florida man has been arrested after he tackled a female deputy and caused another deputy to use a taser to subdue him.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding an intoxicated person trespassing at Rusty's Bar and Grille on Saturday.

Police say that person, identified as 44-year-old Anthony Keith Sewell, was observed by deputies a short time later at a Circle K gas station in Fort Myers.

Deputies made contact with Sewell, who they believe was under the influence due to his slurred speech, behavior and strong odor of alcohol.

Deputies offered to let Sewell sleep off his inebriated state at the Baymont Inn, however Sewell became uncooperative and disruptive at the hotel, leaving the room multiple times and acting confrontational with hotel staff.

Sewell then attacked a female deputy by tackling her to the ground while attempting to grab the leg of another deputy on scene.

As Sewell attempted to grab the deputy’s belt while resisting arrest, another deputy used a taser to subdue him.

Sewell was arrested on charges of resisting an officer with violence and battery on a Lee Officer.
