Charges upgraded after victim dies following attack at Florida hospital

Pembroke Pines, FL - A man now faces a second-degree murder charge after the patient he assaulted at a South Florida psychiatric hospital died on Friday.

63-year-old Alexander Ramseur faces second-degree murder charges for the September 13th attack on a fellow patient at the South Florida State Hospital in Pembroke Pines.

Police were dispatched to the psychiatric hospital on September 13th after a patient experienced cardiac arrest and suffered injuries to his head.

The victim was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities discovered the victim had been attacked by Ramseur.

Ramseur was taken to the BSO Main Jail on an attempted murder charge, however that charge was upgraded to a second-degree murder charge after the victim died on Friday.

The victim’s name and age are being withheld as his family has invoked Marsy’s Law.
