Miami-Dade Commissioners Take Final Vote On Urban Development Expansion

A final vote today on the controversial plan to expand the Urban Development Boundary in Miami-Dade. Commissioners must decide if they want to convert farmland near Homestead into a 9-million-square-foot industrial park. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava has vowed to veto a yes vote, saying the area is already at-risk for storm surge and this would wreak havoc in Biscayne Bay. Commissioners will make the decision without another round of marathon public commenting on the project where hundreds weighed in-those in favor say it will lead to progress, profits and jobs-those against it say it's an environmental threat encroaching into the Everglades.
