Closing Arguments Underway In FSU Star Travis Rudolph's Murder Trial

Attorneys on both sides are giving their closing arguments in the murder trial of former FSU football star Travis Rudolph.

The West Palm Beach native testified on Monday that he feared for his life when four men showed up at his home two years ago and physically assaulted him and his brother.

"They was like, trying to hurt us really bad. I took it as they was trying to kill us. They were kicking us, punching us."

Rudolph says he ran inside his house and grabbed a rifle after one of the men pulled a gun from his pocket.

"I mean I did everything in self defense. I had every right to do what I did. I saved me and my brother's life."

Prosecutors say the men were already leaving the Lake Park home when the defendant fired 39 shots at their vehicle.

Rudolph claims two of the men were pointing guns at him from the car, but prosecutors deny that.

The men were at the Rudolph family home in Lake Park to confront the defendant about a fight he had with his girlfriend.

One of the men is that woman's brother and she had sent him a text, telling him to shoot Rudolph, but has testified that it wasn't meant seriously. Also, the brother testified that he left his gun at home.

Rudolph attended Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach and entered the NFL undrafted with the New York Giants in 2017. He later spent a short time with the Miami Dolphins before an injury.
