Two Floridians Are Suing McDonald's Over Cheese

Two people in Florida are suing McDonalds for $5-million because they feel they’re being charged for cheese they never ask for on their burgers. Cynthia Kissner and Leonard Werner claim that hamburgers and cheeseburgers are different prices on the menu, but when it comes to Quarter Pounders that’s not the case.

Cynthia and Leonard say they order their Quarter Pounders without cheese, but they’re still charged for a Quarter Pounder with cheese, which can cost 30 to 90-cents more. The lawsuit claims that at some point the restaurant stopped “separately displaying these products for purchase on menus, and currently lists the availability of Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese.”

The class action suit says customers are being forced to overpay for the cheese even though they’re not getting any on their burger and “McDonald’s is being unjustly enriched… for cheese it does not deliver to its customers.”

Cynthia and Leonard say they’ve “suffered injury as a result of their purchases.” A McDonald’s rep does “not believe the claims in this lawsuit have legal merit.”
