Lori Loughlin and her designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, are now facing even more chargesin the "Varsity Blues" college admissions scandal. The US Attorney in Boston filed a felony charge of Federal Program Bribery - that could add 10 more years to any potential sentence.
Where'd this come from? In court papers, which you can read HERE, prosecutors say that bribing officials of a university that receives federal funding makes it worthy. If convicted on that, as well as the other charges already on tap? The couple are staring at 50 years in prison and fines of around $1.23-million each.
Apparently, the new charge may not be about new information. Conventional wisdom is that the US Attorney is hoping it will 'encourage' the couple to plead out. Their attorneys haven't commented, but the two – who allegedly paid $500-thousand to get their daughters into the University of Southern California – have vowed to fight the charges and are currently preparing for trial. No word on when they'll be arraigned on the new charge.
ONE MORE THING! The registrar at USC has confirmed that Lori’s daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Gianulli, are no longer enrolled. Because due to student privacy laws, they couldn’t provide additional information.
