Wildlife Officials Remove 5,000 Pythons From Everglades

Hunting Excursions Latest In Effort To Curb Evasive Snake Population

Wildlife officials here in Florida are saying they are removing some five-thousand Burmese pythons from the Everglades. 5,000!

The snakes are not native to our area and are considered pests. I'll say! The population originally came from pets people released, and then reproduced.

Consider that for a moment... a few snakes are let go because the owners don't want them anymore, and they reproduced to the tune of 5,000! That's a lot of reproducing. Snakes everywhere!

Officials with Florida's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say the snakes' removal is an effort to protect native wildlife... not to mention to protect me from these things. Yuck!
