Woman Won't Return $1.2 Million Deposited Into Her Account By Mistake

A dream come true turned into a nightmare for a sheriff’s department employee in Louisiana after she found over $1.2 million dollars was deposited into her brokerage account by mistake. Most people would return the money, but 33-year-old Kelyn Spadoni instead transferred the money to another account, using part of it to buy a new car and a house.

It’s a huge temptation for anyone, but not a good idea. Charles Schwab says they made several attempts to contact Spadoni to request the money back after they mistakenly transferred the $1.2 million instead of the $82 she was due to receive in February. They tried to reclaim the money from her account, but the request was rejected because it was no longer available.

That’s when things got serious. Charles Schwab contacted the authorities, who then arrested Spadoni!! They’ve only been able to recover about 75% of the money so far.

And they can't get any from the 911 operator's paycheck because the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department fired her from that job when she was arrested.
