Kentucky Football Team Helped By Their Rivals After Flooding

Major Flooding Ravages Eastern Kentucky After Heavy Rains

The devastating floods in Eastern Kentucky left the football program at Breathitt County High School with no equipment and nowhere to play. Fortunately, their rivals at Madison Central High stepped in to help, offering them their field to practice, but their kindness didn’t end there.

When Madison Central principal Brandon Fritz started hearing stories of how much the players and coaches from Breathitt County had lost, he wanted to do more to help them get on their feet. Fritz worked with Southland Christian Church to give the players $6-thousand worth of gift cards so they could replace some of the items they’d lost. And one member of the church even donated a car to Breathitt assistant coach, Casey Allen, who lost everything in the flood.

Allen was blown away by the generous gift. “There’s good people out here, guys,” he says. “We’ve been surrounded by so much love, and I feel--I don’t feel like I deserve this.” The Breathitt County Bobcats football team will soon be back on their home field, but their rivals at Madison Central say they’ll be there if they need anything else going forward.
