The Wienermobile Is Getting A Name Change

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is totally iconic and just seeing that slick hot-dog shaped vehicle brings a smile to your face. It made its debut back in 1936 when Carl Mayer told his Uncle Oscar about his idea for a marketing vehicle for the company. But like we've seen over and over with different things from the past, Oscar Mayer feels the need to go and change it.

This piece of Americana will now be known as the Wienermobile any more, as the company is changing its name after nearly 100 years. Oscar Mayer has announced that it will now be known as …the Frankmobile.

The Frankmobile? Did someone ask Frank?

Of course, this brings up the important question: WHY!?

Well friends, according to the brand, the change has happened to “pay homage” to the new hot dog recipe that they are rolling out this summer.

Oscar Mayer now has a fleet of six of those 23-foot-long vehicles and they travel the U.S., going to state fairs and sports events.

And while the name may be different, the Frankmobile looks pretty much the same, with the exception of a new decal on the vehicle’s side showing the Frankmobile name.
